Slate roof

This is a typical slate roof often found in Cheshire and South Manchester, slates will typically be imported from Spain and are fixed using copper nails which do not corrode causing slippage of tiles. Rogue roofers will using galvanised nails to cut costs but these are a false economy as the lifetime of the roof is much reduced. We use a dry ridge which is maintenance free and uses no mortar.
